CJHS Track CHANGE OF START DATE: We will start track practice on Monday, March 22 instead of the original start date of Monday, March 8.
CJHS Tennis ATTENTION ALL Boy's interested in playing TENNIS for CJHS. A sign up sheet will be in the office for all who are interested in playing. Practice will begin on Monday March 22nd, but please do not wait until practice starts to begin working on your game. To participate for CJHS you will need on file in the office, a Medical Physical form, Proof of insurance form filled and signed by all needed persons, a Code of Conduct form all properly filled out and returned to the office before you can practice. Please, come out and show support for your school by being active in a sport that is both exciting, physically demanding, and fun to play. Looking forward to your

CONGRATULATIONS, MISS LAURA! CJHS has been awarded a $3,750 grant by the Douglas County Community Foundation. The grant was written by Laura Leonard, our afterschool programs director, to support EDGE in terms of materials, transportation, and professional development by Laura Leonard. CJHS Chess Team Over 160 players from Eastern Kansas and Western Missouri competed at the Prairie Park Chess Tournament in Lawrence, on Saturday, Mar. 6. Central Junior High took third in the K-9 section, with only 3 players.
Sam Beaulieu was the individual champion in K-9, Eddie Wilson, 5th and George Wedge, 9th. This weekend is the Kansas State Championship. |
Lawrence High School 2010-2011 Cheer and Pom Squad Tryouts Parent Informational Meeting: Monday, March 29, 7:00pm Lawrence High Cafeteria – changed to LHS Library Packets can be picked up in the LHS Athletic Office or Junior High Main Office @ Central and Southwest and Room 410 at South Junior High Clinics: Sunday, April 11 Pom and Cheer- Gym East Gym –Stunting and Tumbling, Monday, April 12 Pom 3:30- 6:30 pm ; Cheer 5:30-8:30 pm East Gym Tryouts: Tuesday, April 13 from 4:00-10:00 pm Pom Tryouts will be first, Coaches will share the participant's results individually following the completion of all tryouts. Results will then be posted following the individual conferences. Smart Strength Students signed up for Smart Strength wear workout clothes and tennis shoes. Report to the Loomis Gym Wednesday at 1:30 pm and Friday at 3:15 pm. Students currently in a sport will go to practice on Friday. Each session will last 1 ½ hours. Act now and work on your strength, fitness, and nutrition. Get your life and body under control.
Smart Strength Nutrition Eat Smart
- Eat 5-7 times per day with these percentages every meal
- Every meal should be 2-3 hours apart
- Use the palm of your hand as a portion guide for eye-balling meals
- Never eat carbs alone
- Make sure to have protein at each meal
- Consume vegetables at the end of your meal

District 1 National History Day will be held Saturday, March 13 at Johnson County Community College, 8-3.
